‘Jew-marking’ app removed by Google

An app that marks out Jewish people and organisations by putting brackets around their names, has been withdrawn by its provider. Neo-Nazis used the app to identify Jewish figures on social media Coincidence Detector, which could be found on the Google Chrome app store, enabled its users to identify Jewish people and institutions by putting triple brackets around their names. The brackets have long been used by neo-Nazis to target prominent Jews on social media. Jewish actors, actors, film directors and media figures were targeted by the app. According to a report on the Forward, the application has been withdrawn by Google. Last night, the app developer’s name was reportedly changed from “allrightmedia” to “TheRightStuff”.
